The drawing room was filled with a tense silence as Lyra and Stefano sat across from each other, their expressions serious and focused. Alaric sat beside his mother, his young face filled with determination as he listened to the conversation unfolding before him.

She was well within her rights to fight back, to defend herself from his advances. I ask you to drop this matter, to let it go and not take it to court.”

He took a deep breath, swallowing back his bitterness as he prepared to respond. “Lady Steele,” he said, his voice filled with a forced calm. “I understand your perspective, and I respect your opinion. Rosalind must face the consequences of her actions, must suffer the punishment that is due to her.”
